First Public Sermon at Mount Safa
After three years of calling people to Islam privately, Allah commanded the Prophet ﷺ to warn his close relatives and then to proclaim the message publicly. The Prophet climbed Mount Safa and called out to the various clans of Quraysh. This was the beginning of open confrontation with the idolatry of Makkah.

This sermon marks the transition from private dawah to public proclamation. Classical scholars note the Prophet's pedagogical wisdom in using a hypothetical scenario to establish credibility before delivering the message. The fact that even his opponents acknowledged his truthfulness ("Al-Amin" - the trustworthy) gave weight to his warning. This sermon also established the Islamic principle that family ties, while important, do not override individual accountability before Allah.
