Simple Life Despite Resources
البساطة مع توفر الموارد
The Prophet ﷺ lived simply, giving away wealth immediately and sometimes going days without a proper meal despite having access to resources.
Context
Throughout his life, particularly evident in the Madinan period
The Narrative
The Prophet ﷺ died without owning the house he lived in, without any gold or silver. When wealth came to him, it would not remain until morning. Aisha reported: "The Prophet never saved anything for the next day."
"What do I have to do with this world?" the Prophet would say. "I and this world are like a traveler who rests under a tree, then goes on his way."
When offered to become a prophet-king, with mountains turned to gold, he chose servanthood. The angel Jibril advised him, and the Prophet said: "Rather, I will be a prophet-servant."
The Prophet's home reflected this simplicity. Aisha reported that months would pass without fire being lit in the Prophet's house for cooking.
